It’s been 17 days since my last blog, the longest since I started, I think. I can tell you many reasons why I didn’t write; my life has been crazy with dentist appointments and having a tooth pulled, I have once again over committed myself, I have been dealing with issues with my children, or I’ve been uninspired, etc. The reason is I chose not to. I made other choices that made it more difficult and I chose not to make the effort. Why did I choose not to? That is the real question. Intellectually I would say it is about priorities and where I let my attention get directed. Emotionally I can point to many things I have been processing that made me turn more inward. Physically I would say I just didn’t have the energy to do it. This is just dissecting the energy behind my choice.
I am using this example to illustrate something. We all choose everything we experience every day. It is the choices of what we physically do, mentally focus on, emotionally commit to, and spiritually allow. We cannot control the world, our surroundings, or the people in our lives. We can choose how we react, what perspective we will hold, what energy we are going to send out, and what physically you are going to do. If you are focusing on the oil in the gulf, are you holding the space for any and all solutions or just ones where BP gets their “just desserts”? When looking at our economic climate do you look for the opportunities for you to grow and shift your life or do you lament about how the rich have destroyed our country? Where in your daily life are you still playing victim? We all still have places we feel powerless. It can be money, food, our health, our families, our ex-families, our communities, or our government. We all have the same amount of power in our own life. EVERYONE is experiencing what they chose; experiencing where their choices lead them. Once you take responsibility for that, or ownership of that, you take your power back. I had multiple places I was still rolling over and playing victim and I had a huge wave of reality slap me in the face this last month. Hopefully yours will be gentler.
We are not in a time when we can fully come out of our victim mentality. It is too ingrained in our society. What we can do is keep chipping away at it in our own lives. It is the time to shift this. It is a layer of fear. We have been a society using denial to keep us victim to the things we fear. It is time to become a society that takes responsibility for our actions and acts in love. Be that individual today. I am.
